Tight Line (Lash Line Enhancement)
An ultra-fine line is blended into the base of the lashes, or pigment is dotted at the root of each lash. The result is almost invisible as “eyeliner”; it makes the lashes look thicker, darker, and denser. Because it sits so close to the lash roots, it works well on almost every eye shape and at any age. It’s also a practical choice if you swim, spend time outdoors, or prefer minimal makeup.

Classic (Traditional) Eyeliner
A continuous line runs along the lash line from one end to the other, with no wing. Thickness is the main variable: a very fine 0.5 mm line gives soft definition, while 2 mm or more starts to read as makeup. A line that looks perfect in the mirror at arm’s length can appear heavier in photos or under bright office lighting, so many clients start slightly thinner and add intensity at the retouch if needed. The classic style is versatile and easy to dress up or down with mascara or shadow.
Winged Eyeliner
Two details matter most: the length of the wing and the angle. A wing that follows the natural upward extension of the lower lash line stays correct as the skin softens with age. A wing that curves downward can start to look droopy over time. Start shorter than you think; you can always make the wing longer at the retouch, but you can’t make a wing shorter once the pigment has been implanted. On hooded or downturned eyes, the wing often needs to be shorter and more upward to stay visible and flattering once the eyes are open.
Smokey / Full Lid (Shaded) Eyeliner
When clients say “full lid,” they usually mean the soft, diffused shaded style: pigment is blended above the lash line with blurred edges, often finished with a soft wing. The shading is frequently done in a brown one shade lighter than the main line so the effect stays dimensional rather than flat. This is the boldest and least reversible-looking option. Smokey or shaded full-lid styles can be a good option if you already wear this level of eye makeup every day and want that finished look without having to apply it. If you rarely wear makeup, a shaded lid can feel heavier than expected once it has healed.
Lower Lash Line
This is most often added to an upper style, though it can be done alone. One important detail is that the upper and lower lines should not meet at the outer corner. Connecting them closes the eye visually, and the skin at that junction is the most prone to pigment migration. A soft, broken or dotted lower line is usually more flattering than a solid continuous one, especially as the skin ages. - Corporate or office days: Classic or tight line in a deep brown rather than pure black keeps the look polished and professional under fluorescent lighting.

Pigment Colour and Your Skin Tone
Pure black isn’t always the best choice. As the pigment fades, it can sometimes take on a blue or grey tone. Deep brown or charcoal shades can give a softer result and may look more natural as they fade.

Skin can respond to pigment implantation with temporary or, in some cases, longer-lasting pigmentation changes, so it’s worth looking at healed results on skin tones similar to yours before you book. Skin loses elasticity over time, so a very crisp, graphic line can begin to look slightly smudged or uneven on a lid that has softened. A softly diffused edge ages more gracefully. A wing that angles gently upward (rather than curving down) can also maintain its shape better over time. These considerations become more important as the skin changes with age, but they’re worth thinking about at any stage. - Going straight to your maximum thickness: you can always add more at the retouch, but you cannot subtract.
