As we all know, microblading can be truly life-changing. Not only does it knock vital minutes off your morning beauty routine trying to create the perfect eyebrow style, but it can also offer incredible results that last the test of time. However, as with any semi-permanent eyebrow treatment, there are risks involved and if you have had the unfortunate experience of receiving less than perfect brows, we understand the disappointment and stress it can cause. Poorly executed brows can include uneven, asymmetric arches, too long or thick needle strokes through to blocks of colour instead of hair-like strokes and the wrong pigment shades. Therefore, it is paramount to choose yourBrow Artist carefully and feel 100% comfortable before you commit to your brow experience.

But what about if you already took the plunge and are now living with a complete brow disaster with a before and after that you were not expecting? Fear not, as all is not lost, and the good news is that we can more than likely help you to reinvent your brows.

During your consultation, a Brow Artist will inspect your current brows in good lighting with no make up on them to ascertain what is actually possible. Usually, if your brows have lightened a little already and the ink wasn’t implanted too deep into your skin, it is possible to microblade over them. Extra caution will be taken, ensuring the most natural result as possible, however, it is important to note that if the ink was taken too deep, it will most definitely give a very block-like and unnatural look which in turn makes it difficult to cover up as the new hair strokes will not be visible.

Brow shape is another important factor to consider. If your brow shape is uneven and outside of the outline in which it’s supposed to be, it could essentially be impossible to re-do. Rest assured the Brau Artists will always be upfront and honest and treat each client individually, explaining thoroughly what is realistic and possible and providing you with the best solution and style possible.

If you have had an actual brow tattoo, rather than microblading, it is worth noting that different ink is used that will possibly have a grey, blue, and sometimes even purple hue. With darker skin and hair this may be able to be covered relatively easily but if you are blonde and fair-skinned, then covering up a bluer shade will be a real challenge and the likelihood is that it will not work.

With all this taken into consideration, if after your consultation, it is not possible to microblade over your old brows, you can go for the Tattoo Removal procedure which removes your less than perfect brows by applying a highly concentrated salt solution to the unwanted pigmented area. Of course, the effectiveness and number of sessions needed will depend upon the colour and age of your tattoo and skin condition.

If you decide to go ahead with the Tattoo Removal procedure, it is important to stop using any Vitamin A or Retinol products two weeks prior to your appointment. You will also need to avoid tanning and sunbeds to allow your Brow Artist to assess your natural skin tone. Other treatments that should be avoided for two weeks prior to the procedure include face scrubs, chemical peels, botox, filler, AHA treatments, tweezing, waxing and electrolysis. Being a natural blood thinner, you should also avoid taking Fish Oil and Vitamin E, as well as alcohol, aspirin and ibuprofen. It is also worth bypassing your coffee fix for two hours prior to your appointment as well as exercising on the day itself.

Once you have finished your procedure the aftercare is fairly similar, and you should avoid alcohol and aspirin for 24 hours afterwards and keep makeup away from the treated area for a minimum of 10 days to avoid infection. Your treated area may feel a little itchy as it starts to heal and will likely scab over so it’s important not to pick at the scabs that could alter your desired outcome. When showering, it’s important to avoid your brow area for 14 days and clean around them instead. The Brow Caps are an ideal solution to stop water being immersed onto your newly healing brows. In addition any form of sweating, swimming, tanning, sunbeds and saunas should be avoided for at least two weeks alongside botox, fillers, face scrubs and chemical peels.

As with most things, there is usually always a solution and if you have been stung by a nasty brow bug, rest assured, it is not forever. You can be the proud owner of some beautiful, feathered brows of dreams in no time – we can’t wait to see your new before and after!
