What to Expect Immediately After Lip Blush Treatment

Your lips will change a little over the next few days, and that’s completely normal. When you know what to expect, the healing process will be much easier.

Overview of typical healing stages and timeline

On the first day, your lips will look super bright – almost too bright! Don’t panic, this is not your final color. On days 2 to 3, your lips may be a little scabby and tight.

On days 4-7, your lips will start to flake. This is completely normal! On the 10th day, the scaling largely stops. The true color appears around day 14. Complete healing takes about 4-6 weeks, so be patient.

Common sensations and reactions (swelling, sensitivity, dryness)

Your lips will probably swell a little as if you’ve had a little bit of filler. This will go away within 24-48 hours. Your lips may feel sensitive and particularly dry – like being in the desert!

Some people notice a slight burning sensation that goes away quickly. You may also experience some itching during the healing process. All of these sensations are your body’s normal way of healing.

Essential Lip Blush Aftercare Tips

Keep your lips moisturized with the balm your artist gives you. Only apply with clean fingers! Drink through a straw for the first 3-4 days. If possible, sleep on your back to avoid pressure on your lips.

Wash your face carefully and keep soap away from your lips. Pat your lips dry, never rub them. Take a photo every day to track your healing. If your artist has given you special wipes, use them as directed. Always wash your hands before touching your lips!

What to Avoid Post-Treatment

Stay away from spicy foods and citrus fruits – they burn like crazy! Skip the gym for at least 3 days (sweat is not your friend). No swimming, saunas, or hot yoga for at least 7 days. Don’t pluck your scales, even if it’s very tempting.

Avoid lipstick, gloss, and make-up around the mouth for 10 days. Avoid smoking – it makes your color fade faster. Avoid teeth whitening and facials for at least 2 weeks after your treatment.

Long-term Maintenance for Lip Blush

To keep your lip blush looking fresh, always apply lip balm with SPF – the sun is color’s worst enemy! Make sure your lips don’t get too dry by moisturizing them regularly. Exfoliate once a week after your lips have fully healed (never before!).

Avoid using harsh facial products around your lips. If you notice that the color is fading in certain areas, avoid picking or scratching. Gentle is the key word here. Some clients find it helpful to take a photo in the same light every month to monitor fading.

Lip products with cool shades can enhance your color between touch-ups. Don’t forget that smiling, eating, and life itself will fade your color over time – it’s normal!

When to Seek Professional Advice

Call your artist immediately if you notice unusual swelling that does not subside after 48 hours. Extreme pain is not normal – get in touch if the pain gets worse instead of better. If you see a strange colored discharge or smell something funny, this is a sign of infection – call your doctor.

Allergic reactions such as severe itching, hives, or difficulty breathing require immediate medical attention. Strange color changes (e.g., blue or gray) need to be observed by an artist. Do not try to solve problems yourself with any products or advice from friends!

Lip Blush Touch-ups

Most people need a touch-up about 6-8 weeks after their first session. This is not because something has gone wrong! It’s simply because of how the process works. Your artist will touch up any patchy areas and adjust the color if necessary.

After this touch-up, your lip blush can last 1-3 years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and skincare routine. People with oily skin or people who spend a lot of time in the sun may need annual touch-ups. For dry skin, the intervals between treatments may be longer.

Conclusion

Caring for your new red lips doesn’t have to be complicated! With the right aftercare, your lips will heal beautifully, and the color will last much longer.

Remember that the first two weeks are the most important part of your healing journey. Be gentle, keep them moisturized, and avoid the taboos we’ve talked about.
